Senior Product Engineer, Payroll
Build the engine at the heart of Softra Payroll, where accuracy is not a feature, it is the contract.
About the role
You will work on the systems that calculate pay for tens of thousands of employees every month, alongside product managers, designers and payroll specialists who have run cycles in the real world. Nothing you ship is theoretical. Every change is measured against a live cycle inside days.
What you will own
- Own significant slices of the payroll calculation engine
- Design for correctness first, then for performance at scale
- Partner with product and payroll specialists to translate real cycles into software
- Instrument what you build so operations can see problems before customers do
- Raise the bar on code review, testing and on-call practice for the team
What we look for
- Seven or more years shipping production software, at least three on a domain that punishes rounding errors
- Strong systems fundamentals in one of our primary languages
- Comfort with correctness-critical work, including property-based testing and audit trails
- Track record of leading a project from ambiguity to production
Nice to have
- Experience with payroll, ledger or banking systems
- Background running or supporting a live payroll cycle
